YOUR COUNCIL. YOUR BUDGET. YOUR SAY. YOUR WAY.

In 2020, Council undertook a community engagement exercise on budget priorities (using for the first time Balancing Act simulation software). The initiative provided the community with the ability to share feedback on how they would balance the budget. Key service areas were identified and participants were provided with options to ‘spend more, spend less or spend same as previous year’.

It is important for council to produce a responsible budget by ensuring there is adequate revenue to support the expenditure needs of the community. Now in 2021, Livingstone Shire Council presents our Budget Consultation Paper 2021-22 to the community for consultation and feedback. Council remains mindful of the below:

  • Livingstone has approximately 17,746 rateable assessments;
  • Property exchanges have increase steadily over the past 6-8 months;
  • There is a general housing shortage within the Shire at the present time;
  • Generally all household expenses have increased over the past 12 months;
  • Council is the largest employer in the Shire; and
  • It is vital to ensure that all residents (emphasis on ratepayers) are provided with the opportunity to review the draft budget and then provide feedback.

Council invites community members to participate in the Budget 2021-22 consultation, you can do this by either of the options below:

  • Click on the Short Survey tab below and complete the short survey;
  • Click on the Budget Simulation tab below and balance the budget by using our Budget Simulation Tool; or
  • Click on the Budget Submission Form tab below and submit a proposal for a community project/initiative for consideration in future budgets.
Thanks again for your participation, your input is valuable to us. We will collate the information and share it with elected members as the budget is presented for final adoption.
