Consultation has concluded

Council is committed to increasing the reuse and recycling of materials and reducing waste to landfill within Livingstone Shire.

Council's vision is to guide the shire in the continual improvement of its waste management practices through innovation, education and the promotion of reducing, reusing and recycling of waste streams as key priorities.

Here's how we recycle

Here is a snapshot of what happens to your recyclables: A story on 4Corners program on 7 August 2017 prompted a number of residents to contact Council asking about our recycling practices.

Livingstone Shire Council provides recycling collection via the yellow lid MGBs to residents and offers the same service to commercial premises upon request.

The recycling bins accept paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and containers, steel tins and aluminium cans.

Council also provides recycling drop off facilities at its waste facilities located throughout the Shire for the same materials.

The recyclable material collected in the yellow lid MGBs and at the waste and recycling facilities are delivered to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at Parkhurst, Rockhampton.
