Consultation has concluded

The community response to the survey on the preferred future of the town clock showed a strong preference for removing the existing clock structure and landscaping the site (64.4% in favour). 35.6% of respondents expressed support for a new electronic clock with 64.4% opposed.

Council considered this information at a meeting of the Planning, Finance, Innovation and Business Excellence Committee on 3 October 2018, and acting upon this information and the recommendations of other deliberative bodies who have considered the clock’s future, have elected to move ahead with removal of the clock and to landscape the site.

Since the clock was originally installed by Yeppoon Rotary, the clock mechanism will be returned to Rotary at their request.

Demolition is expected to occur within the next couple of weeks.
