PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Livingstone Shire Council (LSC) has secured funding from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to prepare a Walking Network Plan (WNP) and priority works program for Yeppoon Central Business District (CBD) and Emu Park CBD.

In collaboration with key stakeholders, the WNP seeks to determine the footpaths within each suburb that form a primary route to enable connectivity between a number of destinations.

Destinations have been determined as likely generators or attractors of pedestrian traffic, with some key localised destinations being categorised as primary destinations.

The planned paths will allow local residents and visitors to the region to better access surrounding communities and public transport services located in the CBD areas of Yeppoon and Emu Park.

The improvements to the path network will encourage physical activity in the area through improved connectivity.

The community has expressed a strong preference for LSC to enable easier travel and enhance the overall quality of life.

We consider an active and healthy community as a key motivator for this project, which includes promoting physical activity, leisure cycling, and simplifying commuting.
