The Station Development Update March 2023

21 March 2023

The Station Western Precinct Project Update:

Council has entered into an agreement with local company Limestone Pacific Pty Ltd to develop the Station community recovery space. This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire funding. The $2.5 M project includes:

  • Site decontamination and services
  • Construction of outdoor undercover areas
  • Multi-purpose stage
  • Amenities building
  • Community outdoor area and play equipment
  • External paved areas
  • Fencing and landscaping treatment

The design of the site allows for separate spaces for differing purposes (types of services/activities). The main purpose of the Community Recovery Space is to link people with the information/support required post a natural disaster. The lease agreement allows Council to “take over” the space for community recovery activities (post disaster) as well as host recovery events during the year such as Get Ready Days.

During non-disaster periods Limestone Pacific Pty Ltd (under a leasehold agreement) will operate The Station Taprooms. They are focused on delivering a family friendly entertainment business, focused on showcasing local talent, local food and Australian craft beers.

Limestone Pacific have worked with Council to ensure that the “community” aspect of the Station is maintained. This means the amenities and western undercover and outdoor area is open to all of the community to enjoy during opening hours.

Project completion is reliant on a range of factors and the first step is finalising site remediation and service provision. Council will continue to provide ongoing updates during the duration of the project.

Please see the new design concepts in the documents section of the website.

Limestone Pacific will be establishing site on Monday 27.03.23 at the Station. This will involve fencing with banner mesh and positioning of a site office and railway carriage as per below diagram.
